TRIO NEBELMEER

Winner of the First Prize at the prestigious “Premio Trio di Trieste” International Chamber Music Competition 2024 and recipient of the Special Ribotta Prize, Trio Nebelmeer – composed of Arthur Decaris (violin), Florian Pons (cello), and Loann Fourmental (piano) – was born from a profound inspiration drawn from the Romantic world. The Trio takes its name from Caspar David Friedrich’s iconic painting “Wanderer above the Sea of Fog” (Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer), a tribute to the beauty and mystery of nature – qualities that resonate deeply in the ensemble’s musical identity. All three members are accomplished soloists and chamber musicians. Their artistic development has been guided by leading figures of the international music scene, including the Trio Wanderer, Claire Désert and Louis Rodde (cellist of Trio Karénine). They have also honed their craft through studies and collaborations with distinguished institutions and ensembles such as the Modigliani Quartet, Diotima Quartet, and with musicians of international renown including Johannes Meissl, Olivier Charlier, Emmanuel Strosser and Lise Berthaud. Praised for their warm, immersive sound and emotional depth, Trio Nebelmeer has rapidly gained international recognition, performing at leading festivals such as La Roque d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Les Folles Journées en Pays de la Loire, and La Folle Journée de Varsovie. Since September 2022, the Trio has been appointed “Trio in Residence” at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, where they work under the mentorship of renowned musicians Corina Belcea, Miguel da Silva, and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. In 2023, supported by the Théâtre and Conservatoire de Caen, the Trio released its debut album for the Mirare label, featuring works by Chausson and Saint-Saëns. The recording received enthusiastic praise from both French and German critics, confirming the ensemble’s artistic excellence. The year 2024 marked a milestone with the Trio’s debut at the Grand Hall of Bozar in Brussels, as part of the Bozar Next Generation series – a testament to their growing prominence on the European stage. Between March and April 2025, Trio Nebelmeer embarked on its first Italian tour, one of the major engagements associated with the Premio Trio di Trieste. The tour included performances for renowned institutions such as Musica Pura (Pordenone), Quinta Giusta (Gorizia), Chamber Music Trieste, Accademia Chigiana (Siena), Amici della Musica di Modena, Società dei Concerti di Parma, and Fondazione Sincronia Musica (Rome), as well as a live broadcast concert for RAI Tre’s “I Concerti del Quirinale” from the Cappella Paolina in Rome. Arthur Decaris plays a Giovanni Francesco Pressenda violin, kindly loaned by the Talents & Violon’celles Foundation with the support of the Fondation Safran pour la Musique. Florian Pons performs on an 18th-century cello attributed to Ambroise de Comble, a pupil of the legendary Antonio Stradivari.
