The Quartetto Thumós is formed by graduates of the Milan Conservatory who began performing together in the summer of 2022, united by a common commitment to developing a professional career centered on the string quartet repertoire. Since October 2022, they have been attending the Stauffer Artist Diploma course in String Quartet Performance at the Accademia Stauffer in Cremona, under the guidance of the members of the Quartetto di Cremona. They have participated in chamber music masterclasses with distinguished artists such as the Jerusalem Quartet, Schumann Quartett, Ida Bieler, Eckart Runge, Miguel Da Silva, Mark Messenger, and Nathan Braude. In January 2023, the ensemble was selected to join the network Le Dimore del Quartetto, with which it now collaborates regularly. With the support of the Accademia Stauffer, the Quartet also took part in a cultural exchange with the Royal College of Music in London, that concluded with a concert at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. The ensemble has been featured as a guest on the RAI Radio 3 program Voci in Barcaccia. In 2023, it won First Prize in the Chamber Music category of the 9th edition of the Milan Conservatory Prize, and in 2024 it was awarded both the First Prize and the Special Prize “Chamber Music for Europe” at the 28th edition of the Rospigliosi Competition. The members of the Quartetto Thumós graduated individually from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan and the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. Since October 2023, they have been enrolled in the Master’s Program in Chamber Music for Strings and Piano at the Kunst Universität in Graz, studying under M. Alexander Pavlovsky, First Violin of the Jerusalem Quartet.
