DUO LAVRYNENKO – GULIEI

The DUO LAVRYNENKO – GULIEI was founded in 2014 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, born from the shared passion of the two young musicians for the chamber repertoire. From the very beginning, Olena Guliei and Volodymyr Lavrynenko found complete artistic harmony in their interpretation of music, leading them to devote themselves to chamber performance. They have appeared in several prestigious concert halls in Hamburg, throughout Germany and Italy, performing a repertoire that spans from classical masterpieces to contemporary works. In September 2015, the Duo won the 16th International Chamber Music Competition “Premio Trio di Trieste”, also receiving the “Dario De Rosa” Special Prize for the best performance of a Brahms Sonata and the Audience Prize. These prestigious awards led to a series of concert engagements in Italy (Brescia, Gorizia, and Trieste) in May 2016, including a RAI radio broadcast and the recording of a CD featuring works by Schumann, Brahms and Prokofiev.

VOLODYMYR LAVRYNENKO

VOLODYMYR LAVRYNENKO has received numerous awards in both national and international piano competitions, including the “Carl Czerny” International Competition in Prague, the “Karamanov” International Piano Competition in Simferopol (Ukraine), and the Val Tidone International Competition – Silvio Bengalli Prize. In 2010, he was awarded a scholarship by the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung. He has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as A. Gavrilov, D. Bashkirov, A. Brendel and L. Fleisher. Lavrynenko has performed both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Russia, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. In 2015, as part of the Duo Lavrynenko–Guliei, he won the Premio Trio di Trieste, which marked the beginning of an active concert career with performances across Italy and Spain, as well as a CD recording. In 2016, he won the prestigious “Franz Schubert” International Piano Competition in Dortmund. He served as a member of the Jury at the 21st edition of the “Premio Trio di Trieste” International Competition in 2022.

OLENA GULIEI

Born in 1989 in Ukraine, OLENA GULIEI began her musical studies at the Lysenko Special Music School in Kyiv. Between 2007 and 2012, she studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kyiv under V. Kulikova, graduating with highest honors. In 2012, she continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with B. Gmelin, where she completed her Master of Specialization in 2014. She has received numerous awards in international competitions and attended masterclasses with distinguished cellists including Boettcher, Noras, Knuazev, Homa, Mihalik and Bauer. As a soloist, she has performed in Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany, and has extensive orchestral experience, having appeared with the Ukrainian Chamber Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra Academy. During the 2011-2012 season, she was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and later joined the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. She currently serves as Assistant Principal Cello with the Dresdner Philharmonie. Olena Guliei is a scholarship recipient of both the Elise Meyer Foundation and the Oscar und Vera Ritter Foundation.
