TRIO GAON

Founded in 2013 in Munich, the Trio Gaon studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts under Professors A. Chumachenco, F. Berger, and C. Poppen. A member of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), the ensemble continues to refine its artistic and chamber music education. The young trio has received numerous prizes in prestigious international competitions. In July 2018, it won the Second Prize, the Audience Prize, and the Special Prize for the best performance of the commissioned work at the “Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition” in Australia. In September 2017, the Trio won the First Prize and two Special Prizes at the “Premio Trio di Trieste” International Competition. In March 2015, it was awarded the Third Prize at the “Joseph Haydn Wettbewerb” for Chamber Music in Vienna, and in April 2014, it won First Prize at the “Musikpreis des Kulturkreis Gasteig”, achieving the highest score in the chamber music category. The Gaon Trio has an extensive concert career across Europe and Asia, performing a wide-ranging repertoire in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Seoul Arts Center. In October 2018, the Trio released its first CD featuring works by Mendelssohn and Brahms. The renowned music critic and musicologist H. Eggebrecht wrote about the ensemble: “The Gaon Trio has elevated musical pleasure with wit, irony, and extraordinary virtuosity […] Beyond the remarkable solo qualities of its three members, one can admire a true chamber spirit and a maturity reflected in transparency and balance of sound.”
