BOCCHERINI STRING TRIO
The BOCCHERINI STRING TRIO was founded in Berlin and, since its earliest years, has received artistic guidance from Günter Pichler and Natalia Prischepenko. In 2015, the ensemble was appointed Official Ensemble of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), studying with Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl, and later in Basel with Rainer Schmidt. Despite its relatively short history, the trio has already garnered significant critical acclaim through performances in Europe and Australia. Only a few months after joining ECMA, the ensemble was invited to perform twice at London’s Wigmore Hall, as well as at the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Mantua Festival and in China. Individually, the members of the Boccherini String Trio pursue active careers as soloists, chamber musicians and principal players in leading European orchestras. They have collaborated with artists such as Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff, the Hagen Quartet, Mitsuko Uchida, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Nobuko Imai, Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna and Alban Gerhardt. A central artistic mission of the Boccherini String Trio is the rediscovery and promotion of the approximately 500 works written for this ensemble—a true treasure trove, much of which remains unjustly neglected, despite the presence of genuine masterpieces.
SUYEON KANG
SUYEON KANG has received awards at the Michael Hill, Princess Astrid, Indianapolis, Buenos Aires, Yehudi Menuhin, Bayreuth and Leopold Mozart competitions. She is currently Assistant Professor to violinist Antje Weithaas at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and a member of Camerata Bern. She has served as Guest Concertmaster with the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
VICKI POWELL
VICKI POWELL has appeared at the Marlboro, Ravinia and Verbier Festivals and is a prizewinner of the Primrose and Johansen International Competitions. She has served as Guest Principal Viola with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Powell studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School and is currently based in Berlin, where she continues her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler.
PAOLO BONOMINI
PAOLO BONOMINI has performed as a soloist and chamber musician with orchestras across South America, Europe and Ukraine. Winner of First Prize at the J. S. Bach International Competition in Leipzig in 2015, he studied with Mario Brunello, Antonio Meneses and Jens Peter Maintz in Berlin, where he is now Maintz’s assistant.
He received a Diploma of Merit from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, studying with David Geringas and Antonio Meneses, and has collaborated with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. As Guest Principal Cellist, he has been invited by the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and performs regularly with Camerata Salzburg.
