Winner of the First Prize at the prestigious 2024 “Premio Trio di Trieste” International Competition and of the associated Ribotta Special Prize, the Nebelmeer Trio – comprising Arthur Decaris (violin), Florian Pons (cello), and Loann Fourmental (piano) – was born from a profound inspiration drawn from the Romantic repertoire. The three accomplished and well-known soloists chose the name of their trio in homage to Caspar David Friedrich and his iconic painting Wanderer above the Sea of Fog (Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer), a symbolic reference to the beauty and mystery of nature that also reflects the essence of their music.

The Trio’s formation was guided by leading figures of the international music scene. Decaris, Pons, and Fourmental studied with the Trio Wanderer, Claire Désert, and Louis Rodde, cellist of the Trio Karénine. They further refined their artistry at renowned academies and with prestigious ensembles such as the Modigliani and Diotima Quartets, as well as with distinguished musicians including Johannes Meissl, Olivier Charlier, Emmanuel Strosser, and Lise Berthaud.

Thanks to their extraordinary ability to create a rich, enveloping sound full of emotion, the Nebelmeer Trio quickly captured international attention, earning invitations to prominent festivals such as La Roque d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Les Folles Journées in the Pays de la Loire, and La Folle Journée in Warsaw.

Since September 2022, the Nebelmeer Trio has held the position of “Trio in Residence” at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, working under the guidance of renowned musicians including Corina Belcea, Miguel da Silva, and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. In 2023, with the support of the Théâtre and Conservatoire of Caen, the Trio released its debut CD, a project dedicated to the works of Chausson and Saint-Saëns, on the Mirare label. The album received enthusiastic reviews from both French and German critics, confirming the Trio’s artistic stature.

Looking ahead, 2024 saw the Nebelmeer Trio make its debut in the renowned Grand Hall of Bozar in Brussels as part of the “Bozar Next Generation” program, further recognition of their growing success. Between March and April 2025, the Trio undertook its first Italian tour, an integral part of the “Premio Trio di Trieste” Competition prizes, performing in major concert seasons in Pordenone (Musica Pura), Gorizia (Quinta Giusta), Trieste (Chamber Music), Siena (Accademia Chigiana), Modena (Amici della Musica), Parma (Società dei Concerti), and Rome (Fondazione Sincronia Musica), including a live broadcast on Rai Tre for I Concerti del Quirinale from the Cappella Paolina in Rome.

Arthur Decaris performs on a Giovanni Francesco Pressenda violin, generously provided by the Talents & Violon Celles fund, with the support of the Safran Foundation for Music. Florian Pons plays an 18th-century cello attributed to Ambroise de Comble, a disciple of the celebrated luthier Stradivari.
