LUIGI CARROCCIA

Described by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as “an aristocrat of the piano,” LUIGI CARROCCIA has won numerous prizes at national and international competitions. Among these are the Virtuoso Prize at the Vendôme Piano Prize, awarded during the 2019 Verbier Festival, the Abbado Second Prize promoted by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) in memory of Claudio Abbado, and a medal in Kyustendil for his performances of works by Alexander Scriabin. He has participated in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano and the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, where he received outstanding and enthusiastic acclaim from critics and from musicians such as Krystian Zimerman and Martha Argerich. Carroccia completed his musical studies at the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory in Bolzano, where he earned both the traditional Diploma and the Master’s Degree in Solo Piano with highest honours and special distinction. In 2016 he was awarded a Junior Fellowship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and from 2018 to 2022 he served as Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. He is regularly invited to perform at festivals such as the Duszniki International Chopin Piano Festival, the Miami International Piano Festival, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and the LacMus Festival. His concert activity takes him throughout Italy and abroad to venues including the Ishibashi Memorial Hall at the University of Tokyo, Flagey in Brussels, Symphony Hall and Town Hall in Birmingham, the Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala in Milan, Salle Bourgie in Montreal and the Tbilisi State Conservatoire.
